PGA Golf Prize Money Up for Grabs at the 2019 Tour Championship

The 2019 Tour Championship golf tournament on the PGA Tour is taking place this week from August 22-25, 2019, at the East Lake Golf Club located in Atlanta, Georgia. Here is a list of the prize money up for grabs this week for the PGA golfers at the 2019 Tour Championship.

The 2019 Tour Championship is the third and last of the three FedEx Cup Playoff tournaments and is the last event for the 2019 PGA season. Only the top 30 players in Fedex Cup points after the BMW Championship are eligible to play in the 2019 Tour Championship.

At the Tour Championship, the players will start the event with scores based upon their rankings as shown just below.

  • Top player starts at -10 under

  • 2nd players starts -8 under

  • 3rd starts at -7 under

  • 4th starts at -6 under

  • 5th starts at -5 under

  • 6th thru 10th starts at -4 under

  • 11th thru 15th starts at -3 under

  • 16th thru 20th starts at -2 under

  • 21st to 25th starts at -1 under

  • 26th thru 30th starts at even par

Beginning this year in 2019, the winner of the Tour Championship is now the winner of the FedEx Cup. This season ending tournament no longer offers a separate prize fund. The 30 players are strictly playing here for the huge FedEx Cup Bonus money as listed below. 

Total bonus prize money up for grabs in the FedEx Cup Playoffs is $70 million. That is a doubling of the prize money from $35 million last year and in all the previous FedEx Cup years. Out of the $70 million, $10 million has already been paid out to the top 10 players in the FedEx Cup standings when the regular season ended at the conclusion of the Wyndham Championship on August 4, 2019. The prize money shown below for the top 30 players is $46 million.

  • 1st place - $15 million

The winner of the 2019 FedEx Cup Playoffs will earn a huge bonus of $15 million. That's up 50% over the $10 million Justin Rose earned last year when he won the cup. Out of the $15 million the winner will get $14 million in cash and $1 million will be put into their own PGA pension retirement account.

  • 2nd place - $5 million

  • 4th place - $3 million

  • 5th place - $2.5 million

  • 6th place - $1.9 million

  • 7th place - $1.3 million

  • 8th place - $1.1 million

  • 9th place - $950,000
