WTA Women's Prize Money Up for Grabs at 2019 Wimbledon Grand Slam Tennis Tournament

The 2019 Wimbledon tennis tournament for women players on the WTA circuit is taking place this week from July 1-14, 2018, on the grass courts located at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club located in London, England. Here is a list of the prize money up for grabs for the women tennis players at 2019 Wimbledon.

Wimbledon is one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments played annually on the WTA circuit for women players. Total prize money up for grabs at Wimbledon in 2017 is $48.2 million. That's an increase of 11.8% over last year.

All prize money below is in American dollars converted from Pounds. The prize money is not cumulative, players only earn the amounts shown for the last round they advance to.

The highest ranked women players in the Wimbledon tournament in 2019 are Ashleigh Barty, Naomi Osaka, Karolina Pliskova and Kiki Bertens. Defending champion Angelique Kerber is ranked #5 and seven time champion Serena Williams is ranked #11.

The prize money has been raised significantly this year for players especially in the earlier rounds and the qualifying rounds. Listed in parenthesis below are the prize money increases for each round in 2019 vs last year.

Wimbledon instituted a tough policy last year that requires all players to give full effort in the first round in order to be paid for playing in that round. They do not want players just showing up in the first round and not giving maximum effort just to collect a big easy paycheck.
