European Tour Golf Prize Money Up for Grabs at the 2019 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach

The 2019 U.S. Open golf major tournament on the PGA Tour and the European Tour is taking place this week from June 13-16, 2019, at the Pebble Beach Golf Links located on the Monterey Peninsula in Pebble Beach, California. Here is a list of the prize money up for grabs for the PGA golfers at the 2019 U.S. Open.

The U.S. Open dates back to 1895. Willie Anderson, Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan and Jack Nicklaus jointly hold the record for most wins with four each. Tiger Woods is tied with Hale Irwin for the second most wins at three each.

Brooks Koepka is the double defending champion having won this golf major in both 2017 and 2018. A tremendous accomplishment. If he wins again this year he is Mr. Major.

This will be the 6th time Pebble Beach has hosted the U.S. Open. Jack Nicklaus won the first time in 1972, followed by Tom Watson in 1982, Tom Kite in 1992, Tiger Woods in 2000 and Graeme McDowell in 2010.

The U.S. Open is co-sanctioned by both the European Tour and the PGA Tour. What that means is that the winner of this golf major will have his win count on both tours. This is true for all four golf majors and the WGC events played annually. Because of that Tiger Woods has 3rd most career wins on the European Tour.

Total prize money up for grabs at the 2019 U.S. Open is a golf record for one tournament $12.5 million (tied with the Players Championship). That's up 4.2% over last year's prize money of $12 million.
