PGA Golf Prize Money Up for Grabs at the 2019 PGA Championship

The 2019 PGA Championship golf major tournament on the PGA Tour is taking place this week from May 16-19, 2019, at the Black Course (Bethpage Black) at Bethpage State Park located in Farmingdale, New York. Here is a list of the prize money up for grabs this week for the PGA golfers at the 2019 PGA Championship.

The PGA Championship dates back to 1916. It is one of the four majors in golf and any PGA golfer would love to win this event. Walter Hagen and Jack Nicklaus jointly hold the record for most wins with five each. Tiger Woods has won this event four times, while Gene Sarazen and Sam Snead have three wins each.

Total prize money up for grabs at the 2019 PGA Championship is $11 million. That's the same amount of prize money that was up for grabs in this golf major last year.

The 2019 Players Championship purse was $12.5 million and it is absolutely shocking the PGA is not offering at least the same prize money for its own golf major. This is exactly why the PGA Championship is the least popular of the four majors in golf. Instead of treating its own major as its flagship event the PGA treats the Players Championship as if it is more important. It's not to the vast majority of golf fans.

Players who miss the cut at the 2019 PGA Championship are each getting $3,100. For the 2019 PGA Championship that includes Tiger Woods who missed the cut by one stroke.
