See How Much Money Do WNBA Players Make Per Game in 2019?

Here is a list of how much money WNBA players do make per game in 2019. What is listed is how much the average player makes per game in the WNBA as well as how much the top players make per game and how much the bottom level players make per game.

WNBA salaries in no way shape or form compare to NBA salaries. Top NBA players make more money in the first minute of a game than WNBA players make for a whole game. (The money listed is just for the 2019 season. The WNBA players have voted to opt out of their CBA after this season so the numbers will likely change dramatically for next season.)

Is that fair? Based upon the revenues both leagues generate it is fair as the NBA generates a ton more revenue each year than the WNBA does in no small part because NBA teams play 82 regular season games vs 34 for WNBA teams. Also in the playoffs, NBA teams play best of seven series while WNBA teams play best of three. And there are 30 NBA teams vs just 12 WNBA teams.

  • Average WNBA player makes $2,412 per game in 2019

For the 2019 WNBA season the average salary for a WNBA player is about $82,000 for the season. That includes the average salary plus $2,600 each player gets in 2019 for meal money for away games. If we divide $82,000 by 34 games we get $2,412 per game for the average WNBA player.

That money does not include any bonus money the player earns for winning awards, making the playoffs or playing in the WNBA All-Star game.

  • Top WNBA players make $3,532 per game in 2019

For the 2017 WNBA season a top player can be paid a maximum amount of $117,500 for the season plus $2,600 for meal money. If we divide $120,100 by 34 games we get $3,532 per game for the top WNBA players.

Again, that money does not include any bonus money the top player earns in addition to her salary this season.

  • Bottom WNBA players make $1,311 per game in 2019

The minimum salary for a WNBA player in 2017 is $41,965 for the season plus $2,600 for meal money. If we divide $44,565 by 34 games we get $1,311 per game for the bottom WNBA players.

Once again, that does not include any bonus money the bottom player earns during the 2019 WNBA season.
