PGA Golf Prize Money Up for Grabs at the 2019 Players Championship

The 2019 Players Championship golf tournament on the PGA Tour is taking place this week from March 14-17, 2019, at the TPC Sawgrass golf course located just outside Jacksonville in Ponte Vedre Beach, Florida. Here is a list of the prize money up for grabs for the PGA golfers at the 2019 Players Championship.

The Players Championship dates back to 1974. Fittingly, Jack Nicklaus holds the record for most wins with three (1974, 1976, 1978). Tiger Woods is one of five players with two wins along with Davis Love III, Hal Sutton, Steve Elkington and Fred Couples.

Total prize money up for grabs at the 2019 Players Championship is $12.5 million. That's up 13.6% over the $11 million in prize money that was up for grabs in this PGA golf tournament last year.

Over the last few years the Players Championship offered the richest prize money purse for a single event in golf but in 2018 the U.S. Open has raised its purse to $12 million. The Players is now larger than that but the U.S. Open will almost certainly raise its purse this year.
