PGA Golf Prize Money Up for Grabs at the 2018 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills

The 2018 U.S. Open golf major tournament on the PGA Tour is taking place this week from June 14-17, 2018, at the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club located in Shinnecock Hills, New York. Here is a list of the prize money up for grabs for the PGA golfers at the 2018 U.S. Open.

The U.S. Open dates back to 1895. Willie Anderson, Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan and Jack Nicklaus jointly hold the record for most wins with four each. Tiger Woods is tied with Hale Irwin for the second most wins at three each.

Shinnecock Hills is a links-style golf course located in eastern Long Island in Southampton, New York. Shinnecock Hills is the oldest formal golf club in the USA (1892) and since it admitted women from day one it holds the distinction of also being the first golf club in the USA to admit women golfers.

Total prize money up for grabs at the 2018 U.S. Open is a golf record for one tournament $12 million.

The $13 million is an estimate based upon the USGA saying the prize money will be up significantly this year over last. The purse could be as much as $14 million. When the USGA makes the amount official sometime during the U.S. Open the numbers below will be adjusted if needed.
