LPGA's Lexi Thompson Taking On the Boys Again in PGA's 2017 QBE Shootout

Fresh off her win in the season-long Race to the CME Globe competition on the LPGA Tour which got her a $1 million bonus, Lexi Thompson is again taking on the PGA golfers in the 2017 QBE Shootout. The QBE Shootout is taking place this week from December 8-10, 2017, at the Tiburon Golf Club located in Naples, Florida.

The QBE Shootout features 12 teams of two players each competing over three days using scramble play in the opening round, followed by modified alternate shot on day two and better ball play on day three.

Lexi Thompson played in the 2016 QBE Shootout teaming up with Bryson DeChambeau. The team finished 12th and last in last year's competition and Bryson DeChambeau is not playing this year. So Lexi Thompson's partner in 2017 is Utah product Tony Finau.

This will be the third time since this event began in 1989 that a women will be competing against the boys. In addition to Lexi Thompson's appearance last year, Annika Sorenstam played in this event in 2006, teaming up with Fred Couples.

Does Lexi Thompson have any realistic chance of winning the 2017 QBE Shootout? Well, she is only 22 years old and she's already got 9 wins on the LPGA Tour and Lexi is the longest hitter in women's golf on the LPGA Tour. She has driven the ball at least 359 yards in a LPGA tournament, so you never know but the odds are against her here.

In any case, having Lexi Thompson taking on the boys makes the 2017 QBE Shootout a very watchable event this year on the PGA Tour.
