PGA Senior Golf Prize Money Up for Grabs at 2017 U.S. Senior Open

The 2017 U.S. Senior Open golf tournament on the PGA Tour Champions is taking place this week from June 29 to July 2, 2017, at the Salem Country Club located in Peabody, Massachusetts. Here is a list of the prize money up for grabs for the senior PGA golfers to win this week at the 2017 U.S. Senior Open.



The U.S. Senior Open dates back to 1980. It is one of the five major championships on the PGA Tour Champions season. Miller Barber holds the record for most wins with three, followed by Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Hale Irwin and Allen Doyle with two wins each.

Total prize money up for grabs at the 2017 Senior U.S. Open is $4 million. That's up 6.7% over the $3.75 million in prize money that was up for grabs here last year. It's also easily the biggest prize money event on the Senior Tour.

  • Winner - $720,000

The winner of the 2017 Senior U.S. Open golf major tournament will earn $720,000. That's up 6.7% over the $675,000 in prize money that Gene Sauers earned when he won this senior golf major tournament last year.


  • Second place - $435,000


  • Third place - $275,000


  • Fourth place - $195,000
