PGA Golf Prize Money Up for Grabs at the 2017 U.S. Open

The 2017 U.S. Open golf major tournament on the PGA Tour is taking place this week from June 15-18, 2017, at the Erin Hills golf course located in Erin, Wisconsin. Here is a list of the prize money up for grabs for the PGA golfers at the 2017 U.S. Open.



The U.S. Open dates back to 1895. Willie Anderson, Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan and Jack Nicklaus jointly hold the record for most wins with four each. Tiger Woods is tied with Hale Irwin for the second most wins at three each.

Total prize money up for grabs at the 2017 U.S. Open is a golf record for one tournament $12 million. That's up 20% over the $10 million in prize money that was up for grabs in this PGA golf major tournament last year.

  • Winner - $2.16 million

The winner of the 2017 U.S. Open will earn a record $2.16 million. That's up 20% over the $1.8 million in prize money that Dustin Johnson earned when he won this tournament last year for his first golf major and the $2.16 million is a record for one golf tournament and the first over $2 million winning payout in golf for one event.
