PGA Golf Prize Money Up for Grabs at the 2017 Zurich Classic of New Orleans

The 2017 Zurich Classic of New Orleans golf tournament on the PGA Tour is taking place this week from April 27-30, 2017, at the TPC of Louisiana golf course located in the New Orleans neighborhood of Avondale, Louisiana. Here is a list of the prize money up for grabs for the PGA golfers at the 2017 Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Be prepared this week because the Zurich Classic of New Orleans is switching to a team event in 2017. There are 80 teams of two-players each. The top 80 players in the golf rankings who agree to play will be able to each choose a partner who is a PGA Tour member or a player who gets a sponsor exemption. The cut line will be for the top 35 teams plus ties.

The format will be Foursomes (two-teams) playing alternate shot in the first and third rounds and best ball during the second and fourth rounds. Teams are not trying to knock each other off but to get the lowest possible score in stroke play to make the cut.

Each player on the winning team is considered a winner of a PGA event and will get a two-year PGA exemption plus eligibility into invitational events like the Players Championship and also into the PGA Championship golf major. FedEx Cup points and the prize money will be split evenly between the two players on each team combining every two positions.

The Zurich Classic of New Orleans dates back to 1938. To date, no golfer has won this tournament three times. Notable golfers with two wins include Byron Nelson (1945, 1946), Billy Capser (1958, 1975) and Tom Watson (1980, 1981). Gary Player won here in 1972, Jack Nicklaus in 1973 and Lee Trevino in 1974. In more modern times, Bubba Watson won this event in 2011 and Justin Rose won here in 2015.

Total prize money up for grabs at the 2017 Zurich Classic of New Orleans is $7.1 million. That's up 1.4% over the $7 million in prize money that was up for grabs in this PGA golf tournament last year.

The prize money below is how much money each of the two players will get from the team that finishes in that place.
