LPGA Women's Golf Playing Field for the 2017 Lotte Championship

The 2017 Lotte Championship golf tournament for women players on the LPGA Tour is taking place this week from April 12-15, 2017, at the Ko Olina Golf Club located in the Honolulu suburb of Kapolei, Hawaii. Here is a list of the top LPGA women golfers in the playing field for the 2017 Lotte Championship.

Before we get to this week's playing field, this author has a been a long time supporter of women's golf and the LPGA having written close to 1,000 articles supporting women's golf and the LPGA. What the LPGA did to Lexi Thompson last week was disappointing to say the least. To allow a TV viewer one day after the fact report a minor infraction that cost a golfer a major championship is in no way sporting or belonging in sports.

Six out of the top 10 players in the world are in the playing field for the 2017 Lotte Chapionship.

  • Lydia Ko

  • So Yeon Ryu

  • Aryia Jutanugarn

  • In Gee Chun

  • Inbee Park

  • Amy Yang

The four top 10 ranked women not playing this week are Lexi Thompson, Shanshan Feng, Ha Na Jang and Anna Nordqvist. Lexi Thompson probably never planned on playing this event in 2017 but who could blame her for dropping out if she did. This is the event that Lexi Thompson made news in last year when she nailed a 359-yard drive.

Other highly ranked women golfers in this year's playing field are Sung Hyun Park, Mirim Lee, Brooke Henderson, Stacy Lewis, Minjee Lee, Carlota Ciganda, Haru Nomura and Brittany Lang. Those eight women are all ranked in the top 25 in the world.

Popular and well known women golfers in the playing field not already mentioned above include Paula Creamer, Sandra Gal, Cristie Kerr, Brittany Lincicome, Mo Martin, Ai Miyazato (won this event in inaugural year 2012), Belen Mozo, Azahara Munoz, Morgan Pressel, Beatriz Recari, Michelle Wie (won this event in 2014) and Tiger Woods niece Cheyenne Woods.
