College Basketball Teams with Most Wins Not in 2017 NCAA Tournament

Here is a list of the college basketball teams with the most wins during the 2017 season who are not in the 2017 NCAA Tournament. All the teams who won at least 25 games and did not get a bid to the Big Dance are listed.

The list is not too long this year as most of the mid-major conference tournaments were won by the #1 seeded team who usually had the most wins. In other years this list has been much longer.

For the most part, none of these teams can complain too much about being left out of the 2017 NCAA Tournament as most of the teams had few quality wins this year. However one of these teams did win four games against NCAA Tournament teams and another team beat a #7 seed NCAA Tournament team on the road.

College Basketball Teams with Most Wins Not in 2017 NCAA Tournament

  • Monmouth - 27 wins

Monmouth went 27-6 on the season but lost to Siena in the MAAC semifinals and did not get a bid to the 2017 Big Dance. Monmouth did beat NCAA Tournaments teams Bucknell, Princeton and Iona (twice) this season.

  • Illinois State - 27 wins

Illinois State went 27-6 but lost to Wichita State in the MVC Tournament final and did not get a bid to the NCAA Tournament.

  • Akron - 26 wins

Akron lost to Kent State State in the MAC Tournament final so they missed out on the Big Dance even though they went 26-8 this season.

  • UNC Greensboro - 25 wins

UNC Greensboro went 25-9 this season but lost to East Tennessee in the Southern Conference championship game and did not get a bid.

  • Charleston - 25

The Charleston Cougars went 25-9 on the season but lost to UNC Wilmington in the CAA Championship game and did not get an at-large bid to the 2017 NCAA Tournament.

  • UT Arlington - 25 wins

UT Arlington went 25-8 this season but lost to Texas State in the Sun Belt semis and did not get a bid to the Big Dance. The Mavericks did have a quality win this year as they beat tournament team Saint Mary's on the road. Saint Mary's is a #7 seed in the 2017 NCAA Tournament.
