Do these amounts seem fair to you? While the players do earn pretty good to great salaries in the NFL the bonuses they get for playing in the Super Bowl seem pretty skimpy considering that advertisers are paying $5 million dollars for each 30-second Super Bowl ad.

See How Much Money NFL Super Bowl 51 Players Get in 2017

  • Winning Players from New England Patriots- $107,000

The players on the winning New England Patriots team each got $107,000. With a 53 man roster that is total of $5.671 million for the winning Patriots players.

  • Losing Players from Atlanta Falcons - $53,000

The players on the losing Atlanta Falcons team each got $53,000. With a 53 man roster that is a total of $2.809 million for the losing Falcons players.

If you add up the total amount of money for all the players in the game it's $8.48 million. A one-minute TV commercial for Super Bowl 51 cost an advertiser $10 million or $1.5 million more money than all the players in the game were paid in bonus money.

Winning the Super Bowl was worth an extra $54,000 for each winning Patriots player. The losing Falcons players each got $53,000 no matter what so winning was only worth $107,000 minus $53,000.

For the 2016 NFL season the average player earned $131,250 for each game he played in. So the bonus money for playing in the Super Bowl is less than the average player made per game during the 2016 NFL season by $24,350 for the winning players and $78,250 for the losing players.

NFL players in Super Bowl 51 were vastly underpaid.
