The Genesis Open dates back to 1926. Macdonald Smith and Lloyd Mangrum jointly hold the record for most wins with four each. Ben Hogan and Arnold Palmer are tied for second most wins with three each. Sam Snead, Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson are three of 12 golfers who have each won this event twice.

Tiger Woods has never won this event but he's come in second twice and he was scheduled to play in the 2017 Genesis Open but dropped out due to back spasms. Jordan Spieth has also yet to win the Genesis Open and he will be trying to win for the first time at Riviera this week in Los Angeles.

Total prize money up for grabs at the 2017 Genesis Open is $7.0 million. That's up 2.9% over the $6.8 million that was up for grabs in this tournament last year.
