PGA Golf Prize Money Up for Grabs at the 2017 Sony Open in Hawaii

The 2017 Sony Open in Hawaii golf tournament on the PGA Tour is taking place this week from January 12-15, 2017, at the private Waialae Country Club located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Here is a list of the prize money up for grabs for the PGA golfers this week at the 2017 Sony Open in Hawaii.



The Sony Open in Hawaii is the second PGA Tournament in the calendar year of 2017 but it is not the second tournament of the 2017 PGA season which began last October. Jimmy Walker (2014, 2015), Ernie Els (2003, 2004), Lanny Wadkins (1988, 1991), Corey Pavin (1986, 1987) and Hubert Green (1978, 1979) jointly hold the record for most wins with two each. 

Total prize money up for grabs at the 2017 Sony Open in Hawaii is $6.0 million. That's up 3.5% over the $5.8 million in prize money that was up for grabs here last year.

The winner of the 2017 Sony Open in Hawaii will earn a cool $1.08 million in prize money. That's up 3.5% over the $1.044 million that Fabian Gomez earned last year when he won this tournament.

  • Second place - $648,000

Second place is worth $648,000 at the 2017 SBS Sony Open in Hawaii. That's up 3.5% over the $626,400 that Brandt Snedeker earned when he finished alone in 2nd place here last year.

  • Third place - $408,000

Third place at the 2017 Sony Open in Hawaii is worth $408,000. Up 3.5% over the $394,400 that Zac Blair earned when he finished alone in 3rd place here last year.

  • Fourth place - $288,000

Fourth place is worth $288,000 at the 2017 Sony Open in Hawaii. Up 3.5% over the $278,400 that Si Woo Kim earned when he finished alone in 4th place here last year.
