PGA Golf Playing Field for the 2017 Sony Open in Hawaii

The 2017 Sony Open in Hawaii golf tournament on the PGA Tour is taking place this week from January 12-15, 2017, at the private Waialae Country Club located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Here is a list of the playing field of PGA golfers playing at the 2017 Sony Open in Hawaii.



The Sony Open in Hawaii is the second PGA Tournament in the calendar year of 2017 but it is not the second tournament of the 2017 PGA season which began last October. Jimmy Walker (2014, 2015), Ernie Els (2003, 2004), Lanny Wadkins (1988, 1991), Corey Pavin (1986, 1987) and Hubert Green (1978, 1979) jointly hold the record for most wins with two each. 

Top ranked players in the 2017 Sony Open in Hawaii playing field include Jordan Spieth, Hideki Matsuyama, Jimmy Walker, Justin Thomas, Paul Casey, Justin Rose, Brandt Snedeker, Scott, Piercy, Russell Knox, Branden Grace, Zach Johnson, Daniel Berger, Bill Haas, Kevin Na, William McGirt, Gary Woodland and Soren Kjeldsen. All of those players are ranked in the top 50 in the world of golf.

Also playing are golf major winners not included above like Keegan Bradley, Stewart Cink, Webb Simpson, V.J. Singh and David Toms. Previous winners of the Sony Open in Hawaii in the playing field not included above include Fabian Gomez (2016), Russell Henley (2013), Johnson Wagner (2012), Ryan Palmer (2010), K.J. Choi (2008) and Jerry Kelly (2002).

All in all the 2017 Sony Open in Hawaii playing field is pretty strong. And when you have top ranked name players like Jordan Spieth, Hideki Matsuyama, Justin Rose, Jimmy Walker and Zach Johnson in the field you are sure to have a very competitive and great week of golf.
