European Tour Golf Playing Field for 2017 Dubai Desert Classic, Tiger Woods Playing

The 2017 Dubai Desert Classic golf tournament on the European Tour is taking place this week from February 2-5, 2017, at the Emirates Golf Club located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Here is a list of the playing field for the 2017 Dubai Desert Classic focusing on the top players.

The big news for the 2017 Dubai Desert Classic is that Tiger Woods, who won this tournament in both 2006 and 2008, is is in the playing field and will be playing this week. The Dubai Desert Classic will be Tiger Woods second start this season following the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour. Tiger has an aggressive schedule for 2017 after being sidelined from tournament play since 2015.

Top ranked golfers in the 2017 Dubai Desert Classic playing field include 2016 Open Champion Henrik Stenson, 2016 Masters Champion Danny Willett, Sergio Garcia, Tyrrell Hatton, Rafa Cabrera-Bello, Chris Wood, Bernd Wiesberger, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Martin Kaymer, Lee Westwood and Andy Sullivan. All those players are in the top 50 in the world.

Players ranked from 50 to 100 in the world in the playing field include Thomas Pieters, Tommy Fleetwood, Thongchai Jaidee, Joost Luiten, Scott Hend, Thorbjorn Olesen, Graeme McDowell, Rikard Karlberg, Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Brandon Stone, Anirban Lahiri and Pablo Larrazabal. Previous winners of the Dubai Desert Classic in the playing field not listed above include Stephen Gallacher (2013, 2014), Alvaro Quiros (2011), David Howell (1999) and Richard Green (1997), 

Golf major winners in the 2017 Qatar Masters playing field not listed above include Darren Clarke and Trevor Immelman. Americans joining Tiger Woods in the playing field include Paul Peterson, David Lipsky, Daniel IM and Peter Uihlein.

All in all the 2017 Dubai Desert Classic playing field is really good and that's not counting Tiger Woods playing. Add in Tiger Woods and you can bet the golf world will be watching the 2017 Dubai Desert Classic this week.
