PGA Golf Prize money Up for Grabs at the 2016 Safeway Open

The 2016 Safeway Classic golf tournament on the PGA Tour is taking place this week from October 13-16, 2016, on the North course at the Silverado Country Club located in beautiful Napa, California. Here is a list of the prize money up for grabs for the PGA golfers to win at the 2016 Safeway Classic.

​The Safeway Open dates back to 2007. Masters winner Mike Weir ​was the inaugural winner. The only other winner to have won a major is Jimmy Walker who won this event in 2013 and won the PGA Championship in 2016 for his first career major win.

Even though the Safeway Open is being played in 2016 it is the first PGA tournament for the 2017 season. Tiger Woods was originally scheduled to play in the 2016 Safeway Open but he withdrew on Monday.

Total prize money up for grabs at the 2016 Safeway Open is $6 million. The same amount of prize money up for grabs in this tournament last year and since 2014.

  • Winner - $1.08

The winner of the 2016 Safeway Open will earn a cool $1.08 million. The same amount of prize money that Emiliano Grillo earned when he won this tournament last year for his first career PGA Tour win.

  • Second place - $648,000

Second place at the 2016 Safeway Open is worth $648,000. The same amount of prize money earned or won by Kevin Na when he finished alone in second place here last year.

  • Third place - $408,000

Third place is worth $408,000 at the 2016 Safeway Open. Jason Bohn, Justin Thomas and Tyrone Van Aswegen split $936,000 with each player earning $312,000 when they all tied for 3rd place at this tournament last year.


  • Fourth place - $288,000

  • Fifth place - $240,000

  • Sixth place - $216,000
