The 2016 Wuhan Open tennis tournament for women players on the WTA Tour is taking place this week from September 25 to October 1, 2016, on the hard courts at the Optics Valley International Tennis Center located in Wuhan, China. Here is a list of the prize money up for grabs for the women tennis players at the 2016 Wuhan Open.
In addition to the prize money for each round also listed below is how much the prize money has been increased for each round in 2016 vs what it was last year. The money below is not cumulative. Players only earn the amounts shown for the last round they advance to. The amounts shown are per team.
WTA Tennis Prize Money Up for Grabs for Women Players at 2016 Wuhan Open
- Winner - $471,700
The winner of the 2016 Wuhan Open in singles play will earn a paycheck of $471,700. Up 3.44% over the $456,000 that Venus Williams (pictured above) earned when she this tournament last year.
- Runner-up - $235,520
The runner-up at the 2016 Wuhan Open in singles play will earn $235,520. That is up 3.43% over the $227,700 that Garbine Muguruza earned as the runner-up here last year.
- Semifinals - $117,770
Reaching the semis in singles play at the 2016 Wuhan Open is worth $117,700. That is up 3.4% over the $113,860 that Angelique Kerber and Roberta Vinci earned when they lost in the semifinals here last year.
- Quarterfinals - $54,230
Reaching the quarterfinals is worth $54,230 for each woman singles player at the 2016 Wuhan Open. That is up 3.4% over the $52,430 that Karolina Pliskova, Johanna Konta, Anna Karolina Schmeidlova and Coco Vandeweghe earned when they lost in the quarters last year.
