European Tour Golf Prize Money Up for Grabs at the 2016 Italian Open

The 2016 Italian Open golf tournament on the European Tour is taking place this week from September 15-18, 2016, at the Golf Club Milano located in Monza, Italy. Here is a list of the prize money up for grabs for the European Tour players to win at the 2016 Italian Open.

The Italian Open golf tournament dates back to 1925 and this tournament became a European Tour event in 1972. American Billy Casper won this event in 1975 and he remains the only American to win the Italian Open. Daniel IM, Paul Peterson, David Lipsky, Peter Uihlein and Charlie Danielson will all be trying to become the 2nd American winner in 2016.

The total prize money up for grabs at the 2016 Italian Open event is $3.37 million. All prize money for the 2016 Italian Open golf tournament has been converted from Euros to American dollars at the current exchange rate of 1.12. 

  • Winner - $561,675

The winner of the 2016 Italian Open golf tournament will earn $561,675. Rikard Karlberg from Sweden was the winner of this European Tour event last year. The win remains the only one of Karlberg's career on the European Tour.

  • Second place - $374,446

Second place at the Italian Open is worth $374,446. Martin Kaymer from Germany finished alone in 2nd place at this European Tour event last year after he lost a playoff for first place to Rikard Karlberg.

  • Third place - $210,965

Third place is worth $210,965 at the Italian Open European Tour golf tournament. Matthew Fitzpatrick, Danny Willett, American David Lipsky, Joakim Lagergren, Fabrizio Zanotti, Jens Fahbring and Lucas Bjerregaard all tied for 3rd place here last year.

  • Fourth place - $168,502

Fourth place at the 2016 Italian Open is worth $168,502.
