PGA Golf Prize Money Up for Grabs at the 2016 John Deere Classic

The 2016 John Deere Classic PGA golf tournament is taking place this week from August 11-14, 2016, at the TPC Deere Run golf course located along the Rock River in Silvis, Illinois. Here is a list of the prize money up for grabs for the PGA golfers to win at the 2016 John Deere Classic.

The John Deere Classic has been played annually on the PGA Tour since 1972. D.A. Weibring and Steve Stricker jointly hold the record for most wins with three each. Jordan Spieth is tied with three other players for the second most wins with two each. Zach Johnson won the John Deere Classic in 2012 and was 2nd in 2009, 2013 and 2014.

Total prize money up for grabs at the 2016 John Deere Classic is $4.8 million. That is up 2.1% over the $4.7 million that was up for grabs in this tournament last year.

  • Winner - $864,000

The winner of the 2016 John Deere Classic will earn a nice paycheck of $864,000. That is up 2.1% over the $846,000 that Jordan Spieth earned when he won this tournament last year. This is one of the few events on the PGA Tour where the winner does not earn over $1 million.

  • Second place - $518,400

Second place is worth $518,400 at the 2016 John Deere Championship. That is up 2.1% over the $507,600 that Tom Gillis earned when he finished alone in second place in this tournament last year.

  • Third place - $326,400

Third place at the 2016 John Deere Classic is worth $326,400. Zach Johnson and Danny Lee split $545,200 with each player earning $272,600 when they tied for third place here last year.

  • Fourth place - $230,400

Fourth place is worth $230,400 at the 2016 John Deere Classic. 

  • Fifth place - $192,000
