PGA Golf Prize Money Up for Grabs at the 2016 U.S. Senior Open Championship

The 2016 U.S. Senior Open Championship golf major tournament on the PGA Champions Tour is taking place this week from August 11-14, 2016, at the Scioto Country Club located in the Columbus northwest suburb of Upper Arlington, Ohio. Here is a list of the prize money up for grabs for the senior PGA golfers to win at the 2016 U.S. Senior Open Championship.



The U.S. Senior Open Championship dates back to 1980. Miller Barber holds the record for most wins with three. Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Hale Irwin and Allen Doyle are tied for the second most wins with two each. Colin Montgomerie, who famously never won a major on the PGA Tour, won this senior major in 2014.

Total prize money up for grabs at the 2016 U.S. Senior Open Championship is $3.75 million. The same amount of prize money that was up for grabs at this senior major last year. This PGA

The winner of the 2016 U.S. Senior Open Championship will earn $675,000. The same amount of prize money that Jeff Maggert earned when he won this senior golf major tournament last year.

  • Second place - $405,000

Second place is worth $405,000 at the 2016 U.S. Senior Open Championship. That's the same amount of prize money Colin Montgomerie earned when he finished alone in 2nd place in this tournament last year.

  • Third place - $255,000

Third place at the 2016 U.S. Senior Open Championship is worth $255,000. Bernhard Langer and Grant Waite split $429,084 with each player earning $214,542 when they tied for 3rd place here last year.
