Wimbledon 2016 Prize Money Up for Grabs for Men and Women Tennis Players

The Wimbledon Grand Slam tennis tournament is taking place until July 10, 2016. Here is a list of the 2016 Wimbledon prize money up for grabs for men and women singles tennis players.



The men and women tennis players are paid the same amounts of prize money at Wimbledon. The same is true for all the Grand Slam tennis events but at other tennis events during the year the prize money is not always the same for men and women players.

All prize money has been converted from British Pounds to dollars at the current exchange rate of 1.31. The prize money below is not cumulative, players only earn the amounts shown for the last round they advance to.

  • Winners - $2.62 million 

The men and women's winners at Wimbledon in 2016 will each earn $2.62 million. Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams won Wimbledon in 2015 and are the defending champions.

  • Runners-up - $1.31 million

The men and women's runners-up will each earn $1.31 million at Wimbledon in 2016. Roger Federer and Garbine Muguruza were the runners-up at Wimbledon in 2015.

  • Semifinalists - $655,520

Reaching the semis is worth $655,520 at Wimbledon in 2016. Maria Sharapova and Agnes Radwanska for the women and Richard Gasquet and Andy Murray for the men all lost in the semis last year.

  • Quarter-finalists - $327,760

Reaching the quarters at Wimbledon in 2016 is worth $327,760. 

  • Fourth round - $173,057

Reaching the 4th round is worth $173,057 at Wimbledon this year.

  • Third round - $104,883

Reaching the 3rd round is worth $104,883 at Wimbledon in 2016.

  • Second round - $65,552

Reaching the 2nd round is worth $65,552 at Wimbledon this year.

  • First round - $39,331

Just for playing in the 1st round at Wimbledon in 2016 was worth $39,331 for all the players who lost.
