PGA Golf Prize Money Up for Grabs at the 2016 Barbasol Championship

The 2016 Barbasol Championship alternate golf tournament on the PGA Tour is taking place this week from July 14-17, 2016, on the Grand National course at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail located in Opelika, Alabama. Here is a list of the prize money up for grabs at the 2016 Barbasol Championship.



The Barbasol Championship was first played last year. As an alternate event opposite the British Open, the winner of the tournament gets a two-year PGA exemption, an invitation to play in the 2016 PGA Championship and reduced FedEx Cup points but he does not get a Masters invitation.

The total prize money up for grabs for the PGA players at the 2016 Barbasol Championship is $3.5 million. The same amount of prize money as last year.

  • Winner - $630,000

The winner of the 2016 Barbasol Championship will earn a paycheck of $630,000 in prize money. The same amount of prize money that Scott Piercy earned when he won this tournament last year.

  • Second place - $378,000

Second place at the 2016 Barbasol Championship is worth $378,000. The same amount of prize money earned by Will Wilcox when he finished alone in second place here last year.

  • Third place - $238,000

Third place is worth $238,000 at the 2016 Barbasol Championship. Ricky Barnes and Whee Kim split $406,000 with each player earning $203,000 when they tied for 3rd place in this tournament last year.

  • Fourth place - $168,000

Fourth place at the 2016 Barbasol Championship is worth $168,000. Amateur Robby Shelton also finished in 3rd place in this tournament last year but he received no prize money and did not affect the payouts.
