LPGA golf prize money up for grabs at the 2016 Marathon Classic

The 2016 Marathon Classic golf tournament for women players on the LPGA Tour is taking place this week from July 14-17, 2016, at the Highland Meadows Golf Club located in the Toledo, Ohio suburb of Sylvania. Here is a list of the prize money up for grabs at the 2016 Marathon Classic.

The Marathon Classic dates back to 1984. Se Ri Pak holds the record for most wins with five (1998, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2007). LPGA stars Paula Creamer (2008), So Yeon Ryu (2012) and Lydia Ko (2014) have all won the Marathon Classic.



Total prize money up for grabs at the 2016 Marathon Classic is $1.5 million. The same amount of prize money as last year. 

The winner's share below is set in stone but the other amounts can vary a bit based upon how many women make the cut. The more women who make the cut in a LPGA Tournament beyond 70 the lower the prize amounts will be beyond the top spot.

  • Winner - $225,000

The winner of the 2016 Marathon Classic will earn or win a paycheck of $225,000. That is the same amount of prize money that Chella Choi earned when she won this women's golf tournament last year for her first career LPGA win.
  • Second Place- $139,217

Second place is worth $139,217 at the 2016 Marathon Classic. That is the same amount of prize money earned or won by Ha Na Jang when she finished in second place in this tournament last year.

  • Third place - $101,000

Third place at the 2016 Marathon Classic is worth $101,000. Lydia Ko and Shanshan Feng split $179,118 with each player earning $89,559 when they tied for third place in this tournament last year.

  • Fourth place - $78,000

Fourth place is worth $78,000 at the 2016 Marathon Classic. That's how much a woman player will earn if she finishes alone in 4th place at the this women's golf tournament on the LPGA Tour in 2016.
